Bob
being 55 now, has had a huge gap of some 25 years without playing live
music. He was born in Kingston-Upon-Thames in Surrey in 1953 and moved
to Southend-on-Sea when he was 6 where he grew up with the huge music
scene of the 1960’s and upward. He started playing in bands at the age
of 14, changing from Bass to Drums and even the Rolf Harris Stylophone
as the bands came and went. His biggest claim to fame was that he
supported the original Thin Lizzy at the Top Alex music club in
Southend. He went on to play with many local bands who supported the
likes of Dr Feelgood from Canvey Island, The Kursaal Flyers plus Eddie
and the Hot Rods all of which are still playing to this day.
In
2004 Bob had the urge to take up playing again and came across Dave
Portch who was looking for a Bass player for his band in Kent, but after
2 months playing with Dave the band just faded away, so Bob found the
Forming Bands website and came up with Mike Fill (Guitars) and Mark
Barnard (Drums). They started using The White Rooms in Rainham to
rehearse but desperately needed a singer so Bob gave Dave a ring and
Still Burning Flame were born.
Unfortunately
Mike Fill passed away in 2007.
By
day Bob is a professional gardener and is a huge fan of Mott the Hoople,
Wishbone Ash, UFO, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Yes, Focus and many more
Rock Bands from the 70‘s and regularly attends gigs around the
country. He is also a big supporter of local bands and often can be
found lurking at the back of a local pub with a pint while listening to
some great music.
Bob
has had a lifelong obsession with Hazelnut Yoghurts and will travel many
miles to find one.
